HALF LIGHT IN FIRST LIGHT

 

In Response to the Weekly Photo Challenge- Half Light

“If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;   

    “If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;   

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

    And treat those two impostors just the same;   

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

I did not click this picture but whoever did is a genius and I am more than glad to have found inspiration from this brilliant photography and have been able to relate one of my favorite poems by Kipling for this challenge.

Being a firm believer of Karma I think embracing paradoxes of life is a way to accept who you are and who you want to be. The reason I chose this stanza in particular is because the way Ruyard has brought two extreme paradoxes together and made sense out of it. Just like that! He says that we are our own masters and what we give power to has power over our-selves.

It’s funny how this poem has helped me look at life through all my stages of puberty and will continue to do so through all the kinds of epiphany (if that’s even possible).
